Founded in 2000 by Tracy Fox, MPH, RD, Food, Nutrition & Policy Consultants (FNPC) specializes in food and nutrition policy and programs at the federal, state, and local levels, including:
- Nutrition assistance programs

Results
Tracy has helped many government, school, nonprofit and for-profit organizations through changes to improve their environment. Highlights include:
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: collect, analyze, document and publicize success stories of school and district-based nutrition and physical activity initiatives; evaluate promising childhood obesity prevention projects across the country in daycares, school districts, after school programs and farmers markets.
- Institute of Medicine: member of the IOM Nutrition Standards for Foods In School Committee tasked with establishing nutrition standards for foods and beverages served in school.
- Hannaford Brothers Scientific Advisory Panel: member of advisory board for New England grocery chain on in-store nutrition navigation initiative, resulting in consumer choices of healthier options.
- Action for Healthy Kids Foundation: member of Strategic Advisory Committee; consultant to develop wellness policy tools and criteria for school-based nutrition and physical activity “best practices,” evaluate current practices and promote criteria and practices nationally.
- Montgomery County PTA and School Health Council: as a registered dietitian and parent leader, advocated for changes to the school system’s vending policies and products; built strategies through teamwork that lead to significant improvements in foods and beverages allowed in schools.
- Produce for Better Health Foundation: co-lead effort to develop a National Action Plan identifying 80 strategies to drive fruit and vegetable consumption in 12 different settings.

Tracy is passionate about positively impacting her environment, and the policies surrounding it, to make it easier for all people to have access to a healthy diet and opportunities to be physically active.
Her strength lies in her ability to take a project from the initial stages of in-depth research and analysis to development of policies, programs, and action plans including advocacy, training and technical assistance.

Background
Tracy Fox, President of Food, Nutrition & Policy Consultants, LLC has over 20 years of experience working in the federal government and the private sector, and has extensive experience in federal nutrition policy and the legislative and regulatory process. A recognized expert in her field, Tracy has spoken at national, state and local venues across the country, and has appeared in print, radio and broadcast media sources commenting on school nutrition, children’s health, obesity and nutrition policy.
Prior to forming her consulting company Ms. Fox was with the Government Relations office of the American Dietetic Association in Washington, D.C. For ADA, she coordinated regulatory activities and analyzed policy in relation to federal actions, and interacted with federal agencies, members of Congress and their staffs. Previously she held food and nutrition assistance positions with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, including in the Office of the Under Secretary. She retired as a commander from the U.S. Navy Reserves where her assignments included military health care policy, food service operations, health promotion and nutrition counseling for active duty and reserve personnel and their families.
Ms. Fox serves or has served on numerous boards and committees for organizations including the Institute of Medicine School Foods Committee, Hannaford Brothers Scientific Advisory Board, the DC Dietetic Association, Society for Nutrition Education, National Cancer Institute, American Academy of Pediatrics, Montgomery County School Health Council and PTA.

Education
Tracy received a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in the Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics at Hood College. Tracy has been a Registered Dietitian for over 25 years.
